This Island Has A Horrible History. But What’s Happening There Today Is The Best Thing Ever.
Okunoshima is a remote Japanese island that was used as the secret base for the Japanese Imperial Army’s lethal gas operation during World War II. Many rabbits were used in the chemical plant to test the effectiveness of the chemical weapons, and some of those inevitably escaped as the facilities were abandoned . Today, the tiny island is known as ‘Rabbit Island’, and is literally overrun with hundreds of cute fluffy bunnies, which can be found in any corner of the island and are very friendly. Despite its history, this island may actually be the cutest place on earth.
Over 6,000 tons of poison gas were manufactured on this island during the war.
