The Portal is a Wearable Smartphone that is Flexible and Shatterproof
Wearing a smartphone on your wrist is a concept that keeps the designers motivated to keep experimenting with new ideas and designs. Arubixs are known for there out of the box ideas and designs and there latest creation is ‘Portal’ which is a six inch smartphone that can be worn on your wrist. The designers have not compromised with the features or capabilities of the phone in order to make it wearable. The phone is impressively capable and above all flexible to make it a perfect fit on your wrist. There have been smartwatches that can be used as a communication device but this is a fully loaded smartphone that can be worn on your wrist.
The waterproof phone is powered by Android and offers 64 GB of storage. It boasts of not just two but four cameras and a six-inch flexible organic TFT display. However it is the size of the phone that makes it cumbersome to actually wear on your wrist. The Portal will strap to a user’s wrist and conform to the shape of their body but it requires two watch bands to strap to your wrist. The versatile device is sure to appeal to tech enthusiasts and the jet setting professionals. The Portal has been designed as a device that boasts of all the features of a smartphone along with features of smart watches and fitness trackers.
Arubixs has unveiled the prototype of the Portal and is hopeful of acquiring funding through the crowdfunding platform IndieGoGo to convert it into reality. IndieGoGo is known for backing out of the way designs that don’t fit the commercial design standards. Portal has the potential to be successful commercially not simply because of its unconventional design and flexibility but also because it promises to be a durable phone. The handset manufacturers the world over are consistently working on improving the durability of their phones. The portal is not only water resistant but completely shatter proof. But you will have to wait a while if you want to wear the Portal on your wrist. The crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo has started and even if they receive the required funds Arubixs can make it available for delivery only in September 2014.
