Some Kids Were Digging In Their Yard When They Made An Unbelievable Discovery. You’ve Never Seen Anything Like This Before
Did you ever dig around in your sandbox thinking you were going to find something just so amazing and strike it rich? Maybe you’d be the discoverer of a lost city or a new kind of dinosaur! Thinking about it, I want to build myself a sandbox! But that’s not the story here.
A group of boys in California were digging in their yard when they made a jaw-dropping discovery. They came across something big and metal, and as they continued to dig, they found an incredibly valuable Ferrari.
The boys discovered a 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS buried just a few feet under the surface of their yard. The family, which had recently moved into the house, called the authorities. A team of investigators came and unearthed the car.
Clearly someone wanted to come back and claim their car someday. It was mummified using towels over the vents and tapes on many of the seams around the windows. Unfortunately, the buriers didn’t completely close one of the windows which caused a lot of interior damage. Woops.
So how did it get there? Farmers Insurance was contacted to trace the VIN number to the last owner. It turns out, the owner hired thieves to steal the car and dump it in the ocean so he could claim insurance on it. Instead, they simply buried the car with the intent to return to get it someday.
The car was auctioned off and purchased by a young mechanic who owned his own shop. The going price was 5 to 9,000 dollars. He restored the car and now enters it in car shows. Pretty neat huh? Check out the photos below:
